supermodel shoot

We set up the studio lighting in the back office on a stinking hot day and took a load of model style shots of Jay in a pink wig and heavy makeup.

Why?

Because we’re planning to offer “supermodel party” shoots – where a group of girls can, for a fixed price (still working on the prices for this) get dressed up, made up (we can provide a makeup artist on request) and we’ll take a load of shots – some in the studio, some on location (beach, sunset, urban, city etc)

So here’s a taster..more to come :)

Cher and Daren

These were taken at the wedding of some friends of ours.  Had to get out of the way of the professional photographer (be  interesting to see how their shots come out) so I didn’t get the chance to do “pro” shots, but I’m pretty pleased with what I got none the less.

Would have loved to have got 15 mins of photo time with the bridal party in the gardens of the place where they got married (Amberley Gardens, WA) but that just wasn’t going to happen.

These are some of the highlights..

Emma and family

we were asked to take some photos of another of our friends and their children, so we hauled the lights over and set them up in her lounge.   We’d been practicing lighting set-ups and got some really good results.

Mel and Eddie

We were asked to take some photos of some friends of ours and their new baby, so we set up the newly acquired studio lights in their lounge and took these

I’d do the lighting differently next time, its all about learning, but they came out pretty nicely and Mel and Eddie were happy

Hallowe’en

We set the studio lights up at a friends house on Hallowe’en and took some pictures of the kids

we took the kids to the beach to get some portraits, but it was really too windy (lesson learned – go earlier in the day – the sea breeze doesn’t take any prisoners!)

but we did get this one – its a keeper

We were in Fremantle, had the camera, naturally and got this wonderful picture of Mum and daughter

My Sister and Family

Took a load of photos for my sister a little while back – she has lovely children so it wasnt too hard to get really nice ones of them for her.

The Beginning

In the beginning..

No, I think that’s been done before somewhere..

So, we’re off and running, we have a registered trading name (Mango Tree Studios – if you hadn’t already figured it out) and some really good portrait sessions under our belts, a portable studio and studio lighting and camera batteries charged.

We’ve done a few more formal sessions in the last months already, putting the studio lighting to good use.  We’ve also been taking more general photos of the kids in difficult outdoor lighting (into the sun, sunsets, jumping etc) to get some example shots of what we can do if a customer (that might be you – go on, you know you want to ;) ) wants something a bit different.

So we’ll upload some samples and probably post some still outtakes from time to time to give an idea of the things we can do…
